The Max resolution on my monitor is 1440 * xxxx. Is there anyway I can increase the resolution? To increase screen real estate I have decreased the DPI.
Any other options?

Try decreasing the refresh rate (screens per second) and/or the colour depth (bits per pixel)?

No. LCD screens have a fixed number of pixels. You could shitify it, interpolating a craptacular image, but that's just dumb.
