Senator says Terry gets a last appeal...
...showing complete ignorance of the Constitution...
Senator Martinez of Florida said the judge's ruling last week was a "death warrant" for Mrs. Schiavo, and compared the legislation's added layer of judicial review to the appeals that are available to prisoners on death row.

Wow. Talk about having no idea what's going on.

i've always wondered: is that purjury? don't senators swear to uphold the constitution?

And, in other shock news, it is expected that sometime soon someone will spell Terri's name correctly.

Well, admittedly, unlike 535 members of Congress, I don't profess to know her.

You know after listening to all the Godless American hating geeks on this damn forum, someday I hope you are on a feeding tube and your life is left up to people just like you.

a) Philo is American.
b) You just said something hateful to him.
Why do you hate Americans, Crusty Admin?
Back ontopic, do legislators ever read anything?? Like bills they pass or the constitution they uphold?
So, I went to law school with a lot of congressional staffers. My *favorite* story is when a staffer was working on something and the Senator came into the office, asking "I need ammo to argue against bill [x] - who's got anything?"
My friend said "Uh, it's unconstitutional?"
The Senator, startled, said "oh, that's good! Thanks!"
I later looked up the bill. It was patently unconstitutional. Got argued down in committee.
But why do Congressmen have to be *told* this? Of course, the root of the problem is the lack of constitutional education in elementary school. Can you *imagine* if we taught fifth graders and up how to read the Constitution and what the various parts meant, then contrasted it with modern society? Wow.

Interestingly, the Federal Judge just said Fuck You to those that thought this Bill was just going to do what they wanted.
Of course, for the pro-lifers, Bush & Co look like saints, and the federal judge is the Grinch; which advances the Bush administration's desire to discredit judges.

Yeah, it's a win-win for Bush & Co. A dual pronged attack.
"a) Philo is American."
--True to my knowledge
"b) You just said something hateful to him."
-- No I was addressing the off-topic forum as a collective. Not everyone fits my description, but look at many of the posts and you will realize who I am referring too. My mistake was not starting a new thread.

Crusty,
If I someday turn into a vegetable with no hope of recovery I have no problem with someone removing my feeding tube. Especially if my spouse agrees. Especially if my spouse spends 15 years to do it.

I'd rather be OD'd on morphine. Go out smiling. Yeah.
I'm think I'm going to set me up one of those living wills to say that if I ever go veggie, they should off me with morphine.

Me, I plan on death by orgasm. Not a heart attack, mind you, but an overload of the pleasure center that shuts down the brain.
Death by Big-O sounds self-defeating. I mean, doesn't mother nature want you to stay around to raise the kid, if any?

Who said it had to be intercourse?
I assume if you're at death's door that this is a service you'd like your nurse to perform?
Hmmm...I'd say "Depends on the nurse," but if I'm truly at death's door, I doubt I'd have time to be that picky.
