Do you believe in astrology?Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly Sun Sign Predictions, Tarot Card Predictions....Any thing of that sort.
Thanks! No.
The planets do have some impact. For example, when the moon is full, people are more crazy. The moon causes the tides and affects women's cycles, why shouldn't it affect other things as well.
Tarot Cards: I am pretty good at them. I spread them out and start telling you your secrets you have never told anyone. So the question is really, do YOU believe in Tarot Cards? The menstrual cycle happens to average 28 days but the phase of the moon isn't necessarily the cause. It's fairly well known that groups of women tend to begin to synchronise if living together but this is thought to be more about cues and hormonal indications than any other factor.
There was some theory in the Seventies that those women whose cycle most closely matched in length the lunar cycle (29.5 days) and whom it was considered were at the peak of fertility also preponderantly matched the actual cycle. However, as they included women who matched within one week of the cycle, i.e. those who menstruated up to a week after the full moon, as well as all those who matched more closely the statistical evidence is very poor given that the majority of women aligned even less well. It may be an urban myth, but it could also be one of those self-fulfilling prophecy things. You believe the full moon makes you crazy, so you allow yourself to do stupid shit you wouldn't otherwise do.
As far as the original question: No, I don't believe in it, but it's sometimes amusing the way Chinese fortune cookies are. No. The things I'm told are too vague that they will always fit on any given day and even some days they don't fit at all.
--"I'm a Gemini, therefore I'm cool"--
No no no no no. "Gemini" are very clever people. ;) Most (statistically) people fit their sign's profiles. Libras are indecisive, Scorpios are bitter, Tauri(?) are calm and earners.
Must be on to something? >> "Most (statistically) people fit their sign's profiles. Libras are indecisive, Scorpios are bitter, Tauri(?) are calm and earners."
Wow. That's amazing. Would you provide a link to the data which support this. Thank you. Oh, and by the way, of course I believe in astrology! How else would the leprechauns know when it is okay to do battle in the magical land of the dragons and unicorns? Sheesh!
It's true!
It's *also* true that Tauri are indecisive, Libra are bitter, and Scorpio are earners. I'm a Virgo, therefore I do not believe in astrology.
I still have my doubts about astronomy as well. ;-) I'm a Capricorn, and we are much too practical to believe in astrology.
On the other hand, if it works some of the time, that can be helpful. A few years ago in France, a research project gave thousands of people predictions based on their horoscope and asked them to rate it. 70% rated the predictions excellent. This was touted as proof of astrology right up until it came out that everyone had been given the same predictions...
So no...I don't believe that meaningful predictions can be based on which background pattern of unrelated stars the sun happens to be in front of. Neither do I believe in any other form of negotiating with thunder storms... In the event he exists he's already got it I'm afraid (non-belief gets me) - OTOH if he does turn up with a contract he (a) proves he exists (b) proves my immortal soul exists (c) by implication provides enough evidence for me to accept the existence of the Boss.
Several years ago one of the developers at the office was quite into astrology. After I'd been there several months he wanted to demonstrate its validity by guessing my astological sign. He did. It only took him six tries. You can imagine how impressed I was.
