Something about this is supposed to be highly racist.
Walmart "Recommendations"Planet of the Apes, "similar" items....
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=1596594 Something about this is supposed to be highly racist. LMFAO
That's awesome yeah. I can see it. notice how they've made the *ape* covered in *black* fur?
see it? also the *ape* has a much darker skin tone than the human. those insensitive bastards. Dammit. They "fixed" it!!!!! Shit. I want that BACK!!!
I think apes all over the world should file suit.
Oh man, with FRIENDS, too. Couldn't get a whiter show if you tried :)
The recommended movies used to be something about Clara Dandridge (was that the first name?) - a black woman, something about Martin Luther King, and a couple more about black people. I thought there was maybe a "liberty" connection there somewhere...
A liberty connection? Wow. That's generous of you.
I instantly assumed it was someone in Walmart trying to make a joke. Aren't the recommendations generated automatically based on what people usually buy with the product?
Philo >>> That's generous of you.
MY INITIAL ASSUMPTION WAS THAT SHARKFISH WAS BEING OVER-SENSITIVE, BUT IF PHILO'S RIGHT, MAYBE JUST A COINCIDENCE - HOW MANY LOSERS WOULD WANT TO GET THE SERIES ON DVD ANYWAY? IT SUCKED. So the Wal-Mart recommendations aren't based tracking relationships between purchases then.
Or maybe there are so few purchases in the database that any time someone buys one, it updates. Yeah, that's the ticket. Let's find the worst possible combinations and start buying things. " Aren't the recommendations generated automatically based on what people usually buy with the product?
Philo" No no. It said "similar items". That's what made me laugh so hard. By the way, I wasn't being sensitive so much as wondering WTF and who on the inside is trying to make WalMart look bad. Then I laughed. I do have a sense of humor--at least on the first Thursday of the month. Having only watched a few episodes of "Friends", I can now see the resemblance between a bunch of over-caffeinated neurotic slackers and a planet full of monkeys.
(Do I win a surealist Thursday award for that comparison?) I think it's funny that people think it's actually some kind of store policy when it's obviously some unemployed doofus changing a few records in a database.
Philo "The Martin Luther King documentary lists ... Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as similar."
RACIST! You stupid Americans are funny, thanks for the entertainment though. Keep it coming, you idiots.
Yay! Denman's back! :D
I'm betting the person that made that happen also was the one who posted it to the web...common, Someone was buying planet of the apes? At Walmart? At their online store?
