OSX dashboard widgets
Pardon me for asking, but so the fuck what?
I mean, I use the weather stuff, but I hardly see how this is such a big fucking deal that everybody is cumming in their pants over it. Is it just that Apple fanboys/girls will hop up and down for ANYTHING shiny that Apple markets to them?
It's to the point where they're going to put support for dashboard widgets into KDE. WHY??!!
I mean, spotlight is very very nice, but I don't see how dashboard widgets, spotlight, and automator are worth a $150 OS upgrade to Tiger. WTF?
I've never found anything with spotlight. Does it automatically index everything? plain text files? pdfs? html? does it go by extension to directory or what?

How much is Spotlight worth?

Not a big widget fan. Konfabulator did not make me wet my pants (like some people I know!), and neither do the OS-X widgets.
I'd rather they found a way to put that info (stock tips, etc) into the Dock, so I don't have to hit F12 and watch it take over my desktop.

When I first saw them, I said 'useless eye candy for babies'.
Now, I use widgets all the time ever since I mapped the activation key to one of my 8 mouse buttons.

Maybe $25 if I were feeling gregarious. It's a convenience but not really a killer app.
Of course, I'd pay more for Expose. I've yet to find a decent implementation on Win32.
