I did something I've never done before today...

I drove home for lunch. Since I now live a whopping 3.5 miles from work, I can actually head out at lunch, come home, cook up something, eat it, and then head back in.

I've never before been able to do that. Every job I've ever worked at it would be at least 1.5 hours to go home and back.

It's really crazy being in a place where the longest drive is having to go across town, and going all the way across town is only a 15 minute drive.

But, in some ways, it is oddly relaxing. Like I don't have to rush in the morning to try to beat traffic and get to work early. And I don't have to code like mad to get out at 4:30 to beat traffic or not be able to leave until 6pm. I actually feel much calmer. For a change.

I know the feeling.

I am in NJ and when I moved to another apartment so that my commute can be reduced to 15 minutes (one way) from 1 hour and oh boy, I am so glad that I can now wake up at 8:30 and still reach office by 9:30. Heavens. :)

Ditto. One of the big pulls of my current job is it's in the center of the city and I live 800 meters away.

Of course, I still take the car to work.
