Sanding our assholes with 150 grit.

Troll Spolsky?

I don't get it, Joel getting the Troll of the Month Award. I mean, I get it, ha ha, I just don't think he deserves it for this particular episode. That whole rosh gadol thing? Or 'hitting the high notes'? Let's not forget the great Hungarian Notation Flap of '05... all those are much better examples.

Crazy, but I kinda agree with Joel on this one.

You need to work on your reading comprehension and/or your ability to search previous discussions. I need to work on the latter, so I'm not posting a link to the thread where the nomination and voting ocurred.

Hmm. Taking an extreme stance on a controversial topic that probably has no right or wrong answer that targets the inscurities of his main demographic - college students.

Nooo, nothing trollish about that. :-)

I am not concerned about the trollish behaviour Joel exhibited on that post; no more than the psychotic, mentally-derranged, exoteric platitude of crap that he writes on some website called http://www.joelonsoftware.com. That's completely trollish. He's by far the loudest troll we've seen on this website.

I've been meaning to ask, what does the [g, d, r] or whatever mean here? I've been on BBS's, IRC, etc for years and never seen this, I get the gist of what it means, but what does it stand for?

It means

[Google It, Digg It, Reddit It!]

No, it's short for "grins, ducks, runs".

Like when you've said something slightly snarky, but mostly funny, and you want to add a little notification to the reader that the funny is really what was intended. So, having said it, you [g, d, and r] -- the idea being they'd thwack you if you didn't run.

Well, I sorta didn't mean any of that. I was pretending to be cute. That's all!

[g,d,r] means you've deliberately insulted someone but you're too much of a pussy to admit it.

yeah, that's like the pussified definition.

And by that definition, we're all pussies. But behold! Philo is the pussiest. He's, like, the mother of all pussies.

Fuck you, Mark (Warner), you steaming pile of crap.

[g,d,r] (because I'm not sure I was insulting enough.)

>>> No, it's short for "grins, ducks, runs".

Actually, it's short for "grinning, ducking, running..."
