Reconciling assholes for nearly a decade.

Hilary Rosen (once-hated RIAA vampire) posting on Lessig's blog

Interesting take on politics:

"So given that most of my time in Washington these days as an analyst and commentator is spent on politics and what I see as the colassal moral, legal and political failings of the Bush Administration and their allies, I am at a bit of a loss as to what to focus on this week at the Lessig Blog."

This from someone who would outlaw reverse engineering - or perhaps engineering completely(!?) - given the chance.

"I still think about how consumers and fans interact with their stuff and what else we want to play with more or more easily. I consult with some companies who are investing in this space or advancing their positions in the market and I regularly speak with and to groups from all walks of the media and tech areas."

I call BS on that first sentence. Her legacy from RIAA is solely about how the record companies can shovel content at the public while siphoning their pockets.

I think there's a lot more to Hilary Rosen than meets the eye. I first got that impression after the Janis Ian interview at Slashdot.
"Witness Rosen's salary, over seven figures, not counting perks. Well worth lobbying for things she may not agree with!"

On her blog, Hilary wrote: "And don’t get me started on the movie business. I have met countless times, at their request, with the studio CEO’s to discuss ways to avoid the mistakes the music industry made."
