So you wanna stay in US after your visa expires?Easy like a sunday morning:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1372335/posts Also: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/08/07/nyregion/thecity/07mimi.html?oref=login so what? illegal immigrants have been in america forever, they hardly constitute any more of a terrorist threat than any other group.
the fact is its *always* been easy for a random person to commit random violence on other random people...there is no way to 'make america safe' and the only people saying that its possible are (a) politicians trying to get votes and (b) stupid people. you want a life without risk? die. I worked fro the Department of Justice and Homeland Security supporting the INS, Border Patrol and the FBI.
According to our analysis - depending on where they were caught - the illegals arrested for coming across the border were already wanted in the US from 8.5%-12.5% of the time. This meant that it was a 1 in 8 to a 1 in 12 chance that the illegal was ALREADY a criminal in the US. The crimes broke down along the lines of: 50% were for violent crimes (assualt, murder) 25% were drug crimes (possession, dealing, transport) The final group was split about evenly between sexual crimes (rape), crimes against children (kidnapping, molestation), and theft. Unfortunately, neither party wants to fix the situation. Both the Mexican and Canadian borders are unusual in immigration terms in that you might get many re-crossings by individuals thus skewing the statistics of millions into something less apocalyptic.
Hey, KC, leave facts out of this!
Jesus was getting a good rant on. (And, hey, isn't Jesus a common Hispanic name? Hmmm...) ++you want a life without risk? die.
Amen. :) The cost of living is death. People pushing agendas based on protection need to get over themselves and start living, or finish dying. A caution against reading too much into those statistics. Note the 8.5-12.5 are percentages of people arrested. It is pretty reasonable to assume that even if their initial charge were illegally crossing the border that they were snagged in nets being cast to catch drug/people smugglers. Taking a subset of criminals from that group is sure to yield a high percentage of reoffenders, especially in closely related crime categories. Show me the percentage of illegals that are criminals and I'll find that noteworthy. What you present here has next to nothing to do with gauging illegal immigrants' criminal activities, although it might appear to... especially to 51% of the public. "This meant that it was a 1 in 8 to a 1 in 12 chance that the illegal was ALREADY a criminal in the US."
that statistic is unfortunately utterly useless without knowing how often each illegal was counted. do you happen to remember that wee factoid along with all the rest? ...if not, you just said nothing useful in terms of judging the size of the problem... The problem isn't the Mexicans are terrorists, but that Arab terrorists could join the millions of people and tens of thousands of tons of cocaine that cross the border every year.
The problem isn't illegal immigrants, but that we are confiscating nail clippers in airports while the southern border of this country is wide open to anyone with a decent pair of shoes. Immigrants are simply the most visible and most exploited result of retarded federal policy. |
