I've been playing it since 1996. Cool to see that you can play it on Yahoo now. Also cool that Klaus Teuber was on Wikipedia's front page for a few days.


If you like Settlers, I recommend the Knights and Cities expansion, as well as the Starfarer's of Catan (SciFi version of the game).

Hahaha. I love setlers!!! Recently trying to get back in the game. Its a game not for the easily angered. Kinda like that "muppet" guy that posts and and comments on this forum.

The guy who introduced me to the game taught me that it was okay to cheat your trading partner. For example, you agree to trade wood for stone but then give him sheep instead. I've never been able to read anywhere in the official rules for or against this practice, so we've just incorporated it as a house rule. Have you heard of the game being played this way?

Yeah, that cheating trade is not standard. The way we play, all trades are public and the cards are shown in the deal. Theres enough hate going around already (moving the theif on someone's settlement). We have this blank developement card in th expansion pack and we twisted rule abit for that. Instead of having nothing, the blank card means that you can switch the numbers between 2 pieces of land around, as long as its nothing the highest and lowest number on the board (example: 6 and 12). Its pretty fun! You should try it out.

That sounds like one of the cards from the "Knights and Cities" expansion. IRRC, you also can't touch 6's and 8's.

My favorite is the monopolgy card. I made someone literally cry once, but trading precious wheat away only to take it back with a monopoly card all in the same turn. It was beautiful.
