It is the most suitable fluid to wash wounds for instance, when you don't have absolutely fresh water.

So the "Cripes!" is more for aestetic than hygienic reasons.

Fake for sure. (The monkey's arm is the biggest giveaway, and although they did a reasonable job with the finger/fur blend it's not quite right. Plus the monkey is at the wrong angle for the guy's hand positions.)
