Happy Birthday, Mat!Here's wishing Mat Hall a terrific birthday today. You are all allowed to do drugs today. Only for today.
Aw, thanks. :)
Also on this day -- 1954, James Cameron was born; 1962, The Beatles sacked Pete Best and introduced Ringo to an unsuspecting world; 1964, Duong Van Minh is replaced by Nguyen Khanh as president of South Vietnam; 1977, Elvis left the building; 2003, Idi Amin died. It's also a holiday in Vermont to commemorate the routing of the British in the Battle of Bennington... Madonna, Ulrika Jonsson, Charles Bukowski, Angela Bassett and Kathie Lee Gifford were also born today.
HAPPY
BIRTHDAY MAT! If you're gonna do drugs, make the good ones, and make sure you take a large enough dose that you're still flying high by the time the next one rolls around. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_16 Did you know... that on this day: Dozens stranded in Cornish floods (2004) Rock and roll 'king' Presley dies (1977) 'War criminal' Idi Amin dies (2003) Diana butler charged with theft (2001) DeLorean cleared of drugs charges (1984) http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/august/16/ Man, the Beeb is depressing. And oh yeah, YOU WERE BORN! Cool. That like.. balances out all the bad stuff, right? Hope your's is better than Madonna's. She fell off her new horse and broke her collar bone. (If you rearrange the words in this post, you can find some fun things.)
You think you got it bad, my birthday is responsible for the deaths of Abraham Lincoln, Joey Ramone, and a lot of passengers on the Titanic. Plus it's a national day of mourning in the U.S., and the day when everybody is the poorest.
The only interesting birth is Leonardo da Vinci, and maybe Emma Thompson and Emma Watson (two Harry Potter actresses named Emma born on the same day? I smell a conspiracy! :) My birthday is a good one. Really, tons and tons of cool stuff happened on my birthday. Composers, poets, athletes, porn stars, drummers, actors, important politicians, etc. all share my birthday, cool technology stuff being unveiled, important & interesting mergers, the end of WWII. I mean, just tons and tons of really awesome stuff.
Well I have the mother of all hangovers this morning, but I think I had a good time. It's all a bit hazy at the moment... :)
One of the tragic side effects of getting old seems to be that my body takes an awful lot longer to recover from excessive alcohol intake. I share a birthday with Charles Manson and David Schwimmer. I don't know which is worse.
Manson is probably the better actor.
Chile President overthrown...
Swedish Foreign Minister stabbed to death... Georgi Markov dies (ricin stabbing using an umbrella)... Thousands die in US aircraft hijackings It's a laugh a minute when your birthday's on 11th September. The onion did a good piece on that (which they've since taken down):
