He's serious, we're all laughing at him not with him.
(If you don't know the expression, it means we consider him funny, stupid, and we don't believe him. It has a definate insinuation that I don't think he's smart enough to even realise that we're making fun of him.) I think if it turned out that it was a painstakingly crafted parody we'd all feel a) stupid, and b) disappointed. It's reassuring to think that there are people as insane as him who still manage to be a functioning member of society. :)
I've seen no evidence that he's functioning properly, other than his continuing ability to type (ish). But I would think that someone who claims to have invented what is essentially a bullshit detector, runs a risk of calling himself recursively, and the last we'll see of him will be a stack overflow as he finally infinite loops...
I think he suffers from some sort of delusional disorder.
