I've been.
It's pretty intimidating. Especially with the steam. It makes you think of gas chambers pretty much immediately.

Indeed. It's a spire with ashes in it from ground zero for those that don't know.
That steam though... and the chain link fence with the diamond shaped studs to make it look as though it were barbed-wire, it's awe-inspiring. I find it difficult to convey the greatness without somehow feeling as though I'm praising the holocaust in some manner. Maybe my own idiosyncrasies. Maybe it is intense woe and hidden horror that it conveys. You can almost hear screams walking over those grates.
Here's to kind people. The guy I worked with was so great, showing me around at his own will on our lunch and coffee breaks. Good people.
