Microsoft OneNote is fudging beautiful
It's sooo simple but SUCH an incredibly good idea with an EXCELLENT execution. This is the least Microsoft-esque piece of Microsoft software I've ever used.
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. And I don't even have a Tablet PC.
That little system tray utility is a very good example in how to do a system tray utility as well - the resource utilization of it is close to 0 (compare that to most system tray utilities that consume upwards of 10 megabytes performing a trivial task).
The system tray thingie lets you take screen captures or open up a little note window to make a "side note". I haven't used that much.
It's also a launcher for the full copy. The sidenotes are a critical element to one note to me - that's where the real strength appears because notes are a constant thing, rather than a "when I'm working with that app"
I've been using it to hold notes for my novel, so when I'm notetaking, I'm definitely IN the app.
It will open the full interface as well. Side notes I use quite a lot and as it saves absolutely everything as soon as you key it I now trust it.
It is the best MSFT app since Scribble.
Ok, but wtf does it *do*?
It takes notes essentially.
It will take voice recordings and pen input as well.
Right... so it's a combination of PrintScreen and Notepad?
And video.
Flasher - It's a big-assed virtual notebook with unlimited sections, tabs, pages, sub-pages, and search capability.
You can mark up a page with text, handwriting, images, and put them anywhere on the page. You just click and start writing wherever.
And dude, it's a well known app. Fucking look it up. :-)
If I don't know of it, it's not well known. I believe you told me that, Warner. ;)
One Note and MCE show that MSFT can actually produce something half decent when they try, so by skipping a whole load of logic it stands to reason that everything else they produce is deliberately half-assed...
that's what I get for giving you free software? ' they deliberately make half- assed software ' ?
I'm cutting you off, Warner
