What are you listening too...
Right now?
Something a little more light hearted than a link to an article about the state telling everyone how to breathe.
I am listening to Collective Soul's self titled album right now, and I think maybe later I'll listen to some live Dave Matthews.
Dead Dave Matthews we'll just have to wait for, or get some kind of Congressional Bill to go kill him.
We had a Dave Matthews concert here in Hartford a few years back. People rioted, flipped over cars in the parking lot and set them on fire.
Can't remember what started it, but the rioters were all people who had come to see Dave Matthews.
Uh...the internal soundtrack has been on random play, so now that I'm paying attention to it, it went away.
I am listening to the soulful, plaintive hum of office A/C.
Shhh, this is the best part.

Now I want to turn up the Dave Matthews stuff really loud and listen for explosions.
I guess nobody else listens to music while they work? (Or post messages to forums?)

I don't listen to music while I work because it allows people to sneak up behind me.
Can't you rearrange your desk so you have your back to the wall?
"Can't remember what started it, but the rioters were all people who had come to see Dave Matthews. "
remarkable how they were able to ascertain that.

In cube land, your desk is fastened to your wall.
In cube land, everybody has to listen to the same thing. Unless you use headphones. Then it becomes very important not to hum or whistle.
But when I get in to my music, I tend to hum.
I don't listen to music during the day unless it's a weekend.

I was in a cube once. I had one of those desks that turns a corner inside a cube rather than sitting on just one wall. I moved my monitor so it was next to the opening into my cube, pointing into my cube. I then turned my chair so my back was to my cube. I don't know if you have enough room to do that, but it worked for me. I don't know if I've described it adequately.
Btw, we don't even have cubes here - it's an open office. We have desks with low dividers. Great for shouting out questions and getting answers, sucks for the noise factor, and I made sure I picked one with only one desk behind me, and it's only being used as a lab area.
"Unknown Pleasures" - Joy Division
Cube Land doesn't seem so bad when "She's Lost Control" is blasting through the head phones.

Classical music (via
www.di.fm). I also listen to their techno, DJ mixes, jazz channels as well. If you have StreamRipper you can even get MP3 files of the songs for later playback.

Right now, "Rush Hour Blues" by the Kinks off 'Soap Opera'
Right now I'm listening to "Leaders and Followers" by Bad Religion, but a minute ago it was (I kid you not) "I Cum Blood" by Cannibal Corpse. (The dangers of several thousand MP3s on random play, I guess...)
Right this second, Cold Blooded by Damageplan is playing. It's part of a gigantic playlist of all sorts of stuff so who knows what'll be next.

Hey muppet, get a self adhesive parabolic mirror and stick it on the top or corner of your monitor. You may not hear them coming, but you will see them.

I went for a change today and turned random off on the stack of mp3's. Right now, I'm somewhere in Tool's Undertow album.
BTW, ++ to Fungus Amongus, after S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Incubus went a little pretty for my tastes.
