What barcode would you have?
Just had a discussion with a friend who said they've always wanted a barcode tatoo. My question to her, and you, is, if it were scanable, what item would you be?
This should go in the "Guinness Book of World Records", least most asked question.
Box of Cheerios (first thing that came to mind)

I know someone who always wanted E-Z Cheeze so that when they scanned him after he died, that's how he would come up.
I don't really like permenant changes to my body, but if I had to choose, I might go for the first The Matrix DVD. If I'm gonna bar code myself, it might as well be a symbol of how computers are taking over.
The barcode for the ISBN of the first book I wrote/published.

Either "Person" in 3 of 9 code, or the UPC from a can of Diet Coke.
A more dramatic barcode to get would be your SSN, so that when you go through passport control you can roll up your sleeve and show it to them.
I am not a number, I am a free man.
The bar code for The Prisoner DVDs would also work. Alternately, the bar code for 666.
Now bring me prisoner 24601. His time is up and his parole's begun. You know what that means.
Yes it means I'm free.
No! It means you have your yellow ticket of leave. You are a thief.
I stole a loaf of bread.
You robbed a house.
I broke a window paaaaane.
Jennifer Government is a book by a guy named Max Barry. The title is one of the primary character's names. She has a tattoo below her eye of the barcode off of Malibu barbie.
I'd probably not be any product, I'd just get random stripes with my social below them.
I know about Jennifer Government, but I didn't know that there was a girl with a tatoo. There's an online game based on Jennifer Government called, I think, Nation States.
Yeah, he made nation states as a marketing thing for JG. He's a pretty cool guy from what I've read about him. Former marketing type turned author... and his cynicism and humor about the marketing world definitely shines through beautifully in his work.
Jennifer Government is a government agent. Last names in her time period are taken from who you work for. She was formerly Jennifer Mattel, I believe. The tattoo is from a mistake she made of some sort involving the Malibu barbie... or something of that nature. It's been a bit.
That is one awesome book though. His only other one I know of is Syrup, which was also good. I liked JG better though.
The first chapter can be read for free online... just google Jennifer Government.
> The bar code for The Prisoner DVDs would also work
That's an excellent one, Mark, thanks for that.
