I've been affected by Katrina!! I'm suffering!
I got rained on a little bit on my way to the car this morning. :-( Please put me on the news and send me money.
Seriously, though, they were interviewing this guy on the phone on Larry King Continues the Hurricane Coverage with Fancy Graphics show last night, and he was basically bitching that he had trouble getting to a doctor because he hadn't eaten in two (TWO!!) days and he had a slight temperature of 102.
Boo fucking hoo, guy. There are people drowning, people with broken limbs, people getting shot. You habs da sniffles. Give it a rest.
Of course you realise that people are going to read the title, not bother with the post and give themselves another reason to dislike you...

Um, to everyone I criticized about criticizing muppet when he was having a really bad day...
I feel pretty silly right now.

Hmmm? Jim? You think the guy with the slight fever, sitting comfortably (relatively) in a hotel room without flood water up to his elbows and rain saturating him should be on the news crying about how bad he's got it thanks to the hurricane?
I think some other folks just might have more cause to complain.
Like me. I mean c'mon the rain messed up my hair.
You're balding anyway so don't sweat it.

Why not fault the newspeople for interviewing him in the first place? They had millions of NO residents to choose from...

Absolutely Misanthrope. Jerks all around, in this case.
Of course, they took the phone call live and probably didn't have specific fore knowlege of what he was going to say, but they could screen better.
I saw this young news reporter who stopped a guy next to the canal that is Canal St. She asked him how he was doing - he told the story about how his house split open and he tried to hold on to his wife, but she was swept away and he was looking for her...
The reporter started crying as he was telling the story. It was pretty heart-wrenching.
Happy, muppet?

Yep I saw that footage too. I was very moved by it.
What has that got to do with my OP? Pretty much nothing.
Also, that footage you mentioned really did move me, nearly to tears, about the first 3 times I saw it. CNN played it about 4 times every quarter hour all night long.
Later I'm sure they'll apologize for over-playing it, like with Dean.
See, Philo, that would be an example of someone who deserves to be reported on. Not the guy in his comfy hotel room with the sniffles.
I'm confused as to exactly what about my OP you're refuting, here. Could you clarify?
I missed where Philo claimed to refute anything.

If he wasn't arguing or refuting, then I'm lost for the reason that he closed with "happy, Muppet?"
