Word autoformatting - gah!

Is there some way to make Word NOT underline and make blue an email address in a Word document? This is obviously not what I want when I print since *you can't click on a typerlink on a piece of paper*.

Hm, typerlink was a freudian slip.

If I remember correctly, it only makes it blue after you hit the spacebar after the email address, the way to fix it then is to hit backspace. The space after the email address is preserved, and it removes the blue underline.

I think that works for other autoformatting stuff as well.

OK, thanks. You have to set it in TWO different panes of the "AutoFormat..." panel.

Preferences, Properties, Customize, and AutoFormat all have stuff that is in the same basic category and yet these are spread out all over the program and it seems some are document-centric, and others are global options. How can anyone remember this stuff.

Did not know about the backspacing tip. Thanks.

BTW, AutoCorrect options is where I look whenever I find Word acting like a smart ass. Most of the time I find relevant setting there.

tools->options->spelling&grammar
uncheck 'check spelling as you type' and same for grammar. that gets rid of most of the irritations right there.

You can also highlight the hyperlink and right click to edit the hyperlink and fiddle with it there so it isn't a hyperlink any more.

You can color the hyperlink black and remove the underline. Once in print, no one would be able to tell if it was "clickable" or not.

I just hit CTRL + Z and it goes away. Them I'm very careful not to mess with that section of text again.
