That is called autumn here.

Last week we dropped from 20°C of the warmest October in a century to frost at night. Yesterday morning there was ice on the bike shed roof.

Sure Lotti. But there were weeks and weeks here from 25 to 30 and even higher. In October.

Does it ever go to -12 in the Netherlands? In November?

We learn here that the climate along the US East coast is much more extreme than in Western Europe.

You get your cold weather directly from Canada, while here wind and water come from the Caribbean.

We need a high pressure over Russia to bring on the cold, and that doesn't happen before deep winter. Here in Groningen we are closest to Russia in NL, so deep cold arrives first and leaves last. Spring arrives three weeks later here than in Holland.

England is rarely touched by this cold.

Because it's a vastly superior system for measuring temperature as it pertains to human comfort.
