Sigh, post got deleted in main forum
Maybe the post won't get stomped here in Off Topic.
I've created a Greasemonkey script that allows you to create a list of idiot posters on this site and filters them from the thread pages. It adds a little form the bottom of all of Joel's discussion pages and in the form you can set any number of names you wish B-Gone. Then, you won't see their idiotic rambings any more.
Idiot-B-Gone doesn't filter out topics on the group page, so will still see the subject and the link to the thread. I didn't filter those out because you may want to read the rest of the posts.

Too bad the worst offenders use multiple aliases.
How does it handle blank posters? They usually just use a space to get past the form checking.
Hey, maybe it'll make all those people stop bitching about how Muppet sucks. It's getting annoying.
Nope, it doesn't filter on blanks. It's kind hard to make it do that since the library has to parse the HTML and text and the HTML isn't rmeant to have that done. A few small changes on Joels side could fix that easily, of course a few small changes on Joels side couild completely break the script as well.
And yes, if someone changes their alias frequently, then this tool won't be terribly effective. It's my experience though that the mods do a good job of removing obvious trolls, so this tool isn't as necessary for that.
It's for removing regulars who annoy you. Now you can have reasoned, rational discussions with only those regulars you want, while completely ignoring the grating, obtuse morons that plague anyone open forum.
Or you could just be a grown up and ignore them all by your big self.
Muppet, I'm sure Damien never saw your last post.

I am Jack's grimy grin

Actually, if I added "I am Jack" to the idiot list it would filter all your posts. Not that I would, but I could.
