Loved those sounds. I remember reading Keyboard magazine and the DX-7 was bigs.

Another big one from the 80's was the Roland D-50.

I remember renting one of those electronic reverb units when I was a kid, so I could create a recording of my compositions that sounded more "professional."

The last couple years Roland has been making miniturized modern clones of the most popular instruments in their history.

The 808 and D-50 are both available in this series as the D-05 and TR-08, both $350.

These can be a more sensible choice than expensive vintage gear which may be on its last legs after 30-40 years.
