Bush spokesman has said he will not be sentimental, no looking back. He still has 357 days to enact policy, and will focus on that.
after the past 7 years, I would not address the past either...
state of the union threadBush spokesman has said he will not be sentimental, no looking back. He still has 357 days to enact policy, and will focus on that.
after the past 7 years, I would not address the past either... I am watching republican friendly fox news coverage.
VP Cheney and Speaker of the house Pelosi sitting together behind Bush. Crazy. Bush is talking about pork in the economic stimulus bill. jesus, what a short term memory. Waiting for "neener neener neener"
"make the tax relief permanent"
this is the 1st time in american history we have had tax cuts in a time of war "the peoples trust in govt is undermined by congressional earmarks"
where was Bush on this the past 7 years? Now we have a Democratic congress its time to act? ahhh! to "build a future of quality healthcare"...
you "expand consumer choice" yet prohibit gov't controll? how will this help? Exclude "junk medical lawsuits"? Like limit liability for institutional fuckups? no thanks "no child left behind is succeeding"?
President Bush requested only $13.3 of a possible $22.75 billion funding of no child left behind in 2006 "energy security all requires a reduced dependance in foreign oil"
Bush failed on all accounts the first 7 years. he proposed hyrogen power initiatives in 2004 state of the union, and did absolutely nothing since. "addressing global climate change"
Bush didn't even accept the idea of GW till 2005? 2006? wtf? "in november, science found a way to transform skin cells to stem cells"
thus, halting all scientific research on religious grounds for a half decade have irreversabily damaged US scientific endeavors, and millions of lives that hung in the balance have been lost "faith based initiatives"
as of 2006, only 1% of the proposed $8 Billion had been awarded "foriegn policy"
Bush: " we trust that people will choose peace if given the choice" even mentioned lebanon... but neglected to mention hamas winning a democratic election? eh? "men and women who are free will deny terror"
as long as we can install their leader via military intervention "afghanistan is a new democracy"
NOOOOOO!!!! Kabul is a democracy. anything outside of that capitol city is Al qaida run and owned. AQ taxes popy production, up thousands of % since the 2001 invasion. AQ revenues are higher than ever. Lies. mentions short term surge benefits, not disclosing that he has single handedly broken the US military, while completely failing to achieve political goals that were supposed to occur DURING the surge.
there is not a single brigade in the US army currently graded at "battle ready". "AQ is on the run in Iraq and this enemy will be defeated"
AQ didnt even EXIST in iraq before our 2003 invasion!!! sweet jesus. makes a solemn promise to the us military that thy will have all they need to protect our nation
half a decade too late. "20k of our troops are coming home"
but Bush sent 30k on the surge!!! "Sunni, Shiite and Kurds are rebuilding their communities"
ethnic cleansing is complete. There is no reconciliation as Bush claims, just "ethnically pure" neighborhoods and cities. "we must do the difficult work today so that future generations will be safe"
indeed, diplomacy is more difficult than simple war and killing... "IRAN"
holy fuck, don't even go there Dubya. You have no credability. Even bringing Iran in to the state of the union was too far, but glad to see limited sword rattling "to protect america, we need to know who the terrorists are, and who thy are talking with"
"we need liability passes for telecom industries" NOOOOOO!!!! no need to break the constitution thanks "increased funding for veterans"
yet Walter Reed hospital and health care for returning vets across the board sank in to shameful and sickening levels god bless it, get off the stage.
My vote in 2008 is for anyone who can undo everything from the last 7 years no new initiatives, no new offers of bilateral compromise, just one more year of "stay the course"
I was in the laundry room when I realized it is today. So I've missed it. Do you suppose there's a standard place to catch a video stream of the SotU?
I'm so sorry, that'll cost 5 Trillion dollars.
Hell, just balancing the budget we have NOW will cost a few additional percentage points OVER his 'rolled back' tax cuts. Basically, through "it's YOUR money", Bush and the Republicans have had carte blanche to borrow 300 billion dollars a year, EVERY year, of his presidency. The Chinese have finally cut back on buying our t-bills, so NOW we're printing it. And the Republican's best idea of what to do is deepen the hole faster. WTF, does every one of my posts have to be followed by that jack ass Friday?
>I am watching republican friendly fox news coverage.
how? one of those clockwork orange chairs where they hold your eyes open? Nah, watching Fox News is enough to keep your eyes WIDE open with astonishment. And yelling at the top of your voice every so often at the absolute idiocy of the Republican talking points.
Yup, war is peace, torture is friendly conversation, cutting taxes WILL balance the budget eventually, all Democrats are commies, socialists and liberals, and the Free Market will solve all our problems. Until things get REALLY bad, when it's the Fed's job to step in and make all things right. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/video/2008/01/28/VI2008012803093.html?sid=ST2008012802201
Free registration might be required. 54 minute copy of the most recent State Of The Union address from the Washington Post. "this is the 1st time in american history we have had tax cuts in a time of war"
Not exactly, the war is financed through printing more money, which is the inflation tax. It's a fair flat tax that equally affects everyone, and very nicely reduces our foreign debt at the same time. It's just those pesky side effects like $100/barrel oil and economic collapse you gotta watch for. But the good news is there are lots of job openings in the military-industrial complex for bright folks. |
