Naivety in tech

I'm seeing this fairly often on HN, where in effect, someone posts that "Well - it *shouldn't be that way*"

You may be right, but it isn't. And wishful thinking won't get you far.

Grow up.  Join the real world.

The reason is that people did what they thought they were "supposed" to do, and still wind up failing.

If you play by the rules, do what you thought you were supposed to do, and still fail, you can justifiably feel cheated.

The worst people to deal with - the ones who persist and insist on dealing with things as they think they "should work" instead of how they actually are.
