More git follies
Running a case-sensitive source control system like git on a case-insensitive filesystem like NTFS - what could possibly go wrong?
It could take a commit for both Web and WEB folders, that's what. And both in the same actual commit (some files went to Web, others ended up in WEB).
A couple of hours spent diagnosing it, and another hour-plus fixing it.
I've already experienced that with Zip and Tar.gz files.
Some ZIP compressors are smart enough to warn you about such issues when compressing. But that's not usually the case with most utilities.
Notice that you could experience the same on any Unix system when you mount a FAT disk.
I've always wondered why there is no POSIX function which could let you know you if a given directory has its file names case sensitive or not.
