Y'all are a bunch of wankers!

Me thinks tech conferences are bullshit

Have you ever learned something you could not learn on your own when attending one of them?

IMHO, it's all about marketing and showing off. If you're not in the business of looking sweet and sexy, why going?

Your turn to prove me wrong.

And networking with the other attendees

Read my first sentence: "Have you ever learned...".

I am not interested in how many fuck/money friends you've made there.

OK, well then we don't need to be interested in your coming here to brag about your being an autistic loser who can't network and is always complaining about who moved his cheese.

RC,

You seem in a very bad mood today. Don't forget your pills!

I've been to product-specific conferences where the CEO has given insights into what they're doing and why. That has been useful.

,ndo,

Can you give me a specific example so I can grasp how important to you was this kind of information?

Useful rather than important. There was a dev product that experienced problems with Microsoft's Multiple Document interface, with the result that user programs created with the tool would in some circumstances crash or misbehave (I never saw this problem myself). This was an issue that spanned years. The CEO told us at one conference that MS had confirmed that there was a problem within MDI that could not be rectified, and MS recommended not using MDI and MS said they themselves would move away from it. Which they have. For example, multiple Word documents now each open in their own window, never in tabs in a single window.
