Spacex are going to the moon!
I imagine going round is relatively trivial compared to landing
Not really, no.
To actually LAND, you need a LANDER, which you need to dock with at some point. It needs fuel to both land, and take off again.
So doing an orbit around the moon is about half as difficult as landing and taking off again from the moon.
Which is not to say going around the moon is easy in any way. It's just to say that landing is about twice as hard.
The moon landing used a separate engine from the take off, they left the lower part behind, so that's 3x engines and associated controls and ballistics, so at LEAST 3x harder.
Once you're inserted into the right trajectory going round the moon it requires virtually no further effort.
