Google Admits to "Good" Censorship

(repost dildo me if necessary)

https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2018/10/09/the-good-censor-leaked-google-briefing-admits-abandonment-of-free-speech-for-safety-and-civility/

It's pretty much what you'd expect.

>> An internal company briefing produced by Google and leaked exclusively to Breitbart News argues that due to a variety of factors, including the election of President Trump, the “American tradition” of free speech on the internet is no longer viable.

>> Despite leaked video footage showing top executives declaring their intention to ensure that the rise of Trump and the populist movement is just a “blip” in history, Google has repeatedly denied that the political bias of its employees filter into its products.

>> But the 85-page briefing, titled “The Good Censor,” admits that Google and other tech platforms now “control the majority of online conversations” and have undertaken a “shift towards censorship” in response to unwelcome political events around the world.

Dr. Pepper and Tumor, take it from here...

I wonder why this censorship has not been in effect when the head-shoppers of the Islamic State were openly using their platforms to recruit terrorists and showcase their murders of woman and children all over Syria and Iraq.

Fuck the hypocrites.

>why this censorship has not been in effect

Because the deep-state supports the 'rebels' in Syria.

They want their fucking pipeline.

Show me successful records of Google? They keep shutting down apps after apps. They are leeches sucking on America. They brainwash our kids with advertisements while suppress our freedom. I hate to see even the sight of the two owners (Larry Page and Sergey Brin). Something about their faces is unlovable. Google is evil beyond belief. I say let break them up. Spin the search engine into a smaller and separate company.

Google has one big cash cow (search+ads).  They also make decent revenue from Google Play/Android (which was a purchase).

I liked Google Reader.  They shut it down because they wanted to promote Google+.

Tech companies don't want RSS (you pick which blogs to follow, see the posts in order).  They want the "feed", where they rearrange to what they think is most interesting, while they insert ads.

Google Maps is pretty good, and the street view part is very useful for doing research into news stories to separate the fake from the not so fake.

Google search though isn't that great any more, and it's absolute unusable crap on mobile, I can't find results below the sponsored stuff and ads inserted.

I guess all kids instagram or whatever. I find mobile net to be really horrifically bad across the board and don't use it unless there's no other choice.

I liked the Google Scholar when it was indexing all these papers and cross referencing them. It stopped being as useful. Now my go-to method for academic research is this girl I know in Central Asia who has a copy of every paper that's ever been published in the history of mankind, across thousands of publishers. She just lets me have a copy of whatever I ask for. Now that's convenience.

YouTube works pretty well but...

It loses huge amounts of money and always has
Susan wojcicikikikiki is totally clueless
It has a left/SJW bias like all the other valley techs
It treats its creators like shit

I used to watch YouTube shows all the time.

After they switched to by-the-minute reimbursement content went to shit. Don't see many clever animations and produced short form serial comedies and dramas. Instead everything is talking heads going on about their opinion of a news article they slowly read for 15+ minutes, 30+ minute makeup videos, 30+ minute video game play throughs.

Also their UI went to shit as well. I no longer can find interesting content, though that's probably because it no longer exists.

>I no longer can find interesting content

A few months ago they changed their 'algorithm'.

The list of your subscribed content used to be strictly chronological with the newest first.

It has been 'optimised', they now show you what THEY think is most relevant first.
