Sanding our assholes with 150 grit.

It's my birthday.

Yay me.

I also got a raise today.

I also have a sleep study tonight.

One of these I don't care much about, one I am mildly annoyed with, and one actively pisses me off.

It's not my birthday.
To hell with me.

I did not get a raise today.

I have no idea what 'a sleep study' is.

One of these I don't care much about, one I am mildly annoyed with, and one actively pisses me off.

I'm going to assume that the lack of knowledge on sleep studies is your mild annoyance, so let me explain.

There's a good chance I have sleep apnea, which is stopping breathing in your sleep.  I also snore like a chainsaw.  I go to the hospital tonight, they hook me up to a ton of wires, sensors, and other crap, and find out if I'm in danger of dying in my sleep.

Less annoyed now?

Sorry to hear about your sleep problems--that's really got to suck.  Not getting enough sleep drives me up the wall.

I just thought maybe 'sleep study' was a cute colloquialism for... you know ;-)

Don't I wish.  The fact that it's not is the source of my annoyance.

And yes, it does suck.  Waking up tired blows.  Combine that with a known side effect of Zoloft - drowsiness - and for a couple weeks I was nearly narcoleptic.

I probably suffer from the same thing, the snoring, waking up with dry mouth thing that is.  I believe all I have to do is lose weight in the head and neck region.

Right.

And Happy Birthday.

I have to say thanks to everyone for the well wishes.

It's certainly not my birthday that I'm upset about.

Happy barfday!

Must stink having to go into hospital on your birthday, but here's hoping they say "all okay".

Give your boss a kick in the bollocks.

I hope the sleep study can be done even after you have binged on loads of cake and wine :)
And when you come back, tell us which nurse looked most beautiful ;-).

"Give your boss a kick in the bollocks."

I learnt from someone here - always assume that the gun is loaded. So expect something to jump out of the bollocks.

Happy natal day, Aaron!

I snore too, but it seems to be temperature-related.  Too hot in the room, I snore.  Too cold - I shiver and snore.  ;-)
Good luck at the sleep study.

Happy birthday Aaron.

Wow, imagine pissing off TWO women because of your snoring.  Maybe you and Muppet can start a sleep apnea support group.

Yeah...I might be able to struggle out from under a pillow if only one was holding it down, but against two?

You're actively pissed off you got a raise? This is truly the bizarro world everyone says it is.

Depends, Anon.

"Good news for everyone: you all got a raise - 10%!

Oh. Except you, Aaron. Just 1% for you because you've got two wives and I'm jealous."

"Why, thanks a bunch, boss." *kick*

<high voice>"Don't mention it."</high voice>

Anon, Moron has it close to right.  Not exactly right, but close.

Let's just say that my paycheck (twice a month) went up by a net of $40 and leave it at that.

Regulars from ?off may remember my former salary.

Ouch. A $40 raise is effectively getting your pay docked (when inflation is factored in).

I got a 7% raise last year but I had to fight for it big time.  I had to sit my boss down and basically lecture to him about why I deserved it, all the while being subtly mocked.

It was great.

I don't think, with my attendance, that I'll be getting any raise at all this year (8 months til I find out, though.  Our fiscal year runs sept-oct).
