Not just that he is getting involved so quickly, but that Bush has *nothing* to do with these meetings.  He's just not mentioned.

The entire world is so over Bush, and is flat out eager to move on.

I think that GWB's absence from the transition process is, unfortunately, more a consequence of him being busy elsewhere than of benign inaction:

Unlucky my ass.  He *chose* to ignore Clinton's advisor's reports on Al Qaeda, he *chose* to act slowly in the wake of Katrina and did nothing in advance to prepare for it, and he and his cronies *actively* participated in the shit that led to the collapse of our financial system.

Things could change. Maybe he handled al qaeda as well as is possible. Maybe Obama will bring us to war with Russia, and sit back and do nothing while Iran nukes Israel. Maybe, as those of you who survive the nuclear fallout are cowering in  fallout shelters, you will look back at the Bush days as the finest of your life.

Maybe.

If I do, it won't be because of anything Bush did, it'll be because Bush happened to be in office when I bought a house, had kids, and so on.  None of which had anything to do with Bush.
