I keep hearing about this Amazon thing. Maybe some day I will try it.

Lew Rockwell thinks Obama is 'articulate'. I'm not sensing any irony here, either.

"He is elegant and graceful and articulate, and inspires people in an unusual way. As chief policymaker, however, he has revealed himself as nothing more than a two-bit socialist."

Wow.  I can feel the hate through my screen.

I think the word "articulate" isn't so bad. It's just that we either don't notice it, or it is rarely said about articulate white people.  Or maybe it is this:

"Articulate Means 'Not Too Black'
Eugene Robinson: The word is often pronounced with an air of surprise, as if it's an improbable and wondrous thing that a black person has somehow cracked the code. I can't help but think of the famous quote from Samuel Johnson: "Sir, a woman preaching is like a dog's walking on his hind legs. It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all." Articulate is really a shorthand way of describing a black person who isn't too black."

Well-meaning people have said this about me.

It always catches me off guard.  I remember a Polish lady said this about me (she had a thick accent) because she admired my English.  She wasn't PC so she actually said "your English, so beautiful and nice you don't talk like the other black people!"

That's what I love and hate about Chicago-ans.  We are at once ridiculously racist and open.

"two bit socialist"?  What the hell is that?  Is that something a blood-sucking labor-hating capitalist calls anybody who stands in his way?

Besides, I thought they didn't LIKE Socialism.  I'd think the tiny little two-bit (25 cents) version would be more comfortable than a 5 trillion dollar military version of the same.

You DO know our military is NOT a Democracy, right?  And military pay, duties, medical care, and food are all pretty Socialist?  Planned centralized economy and all that?

I don't understand why they are calling Obama a socialist.

"Any of various political philosophies that support social and economic equality, collective decision-making and public control of productive capital and natural resources"

Interesting view on "Is Obama A Socialist?"

I dunno. I just don't see it so clearly.  How is corporate welfare that Bush advocated any different?  How is Bush NOT a socialist, too?

Because "corporate welfare" is Fascist, apparently.

Bush is pretty much a socialist.

But I have trouble with calling Obama 'Articulate' being an insult or racist.  He is significantly more articulate and coherent than any president that I can remember.  When he speaks, he's clear about what he means.  You understand what he's saying.  He doesn't sound like a retard.

Come up with a list of people you know who can do that, who are as clear in their speaking as the current president.  You'll have a very very short list.  And I don't mean clear in writing, I mean specifically their ability to communicate clearly through the spoken word.

Now BUSH, with his "deciderer", and "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, well, you can't fool me again." was simply an idiot.  Led by the nose by Cheney and Rove into one stupid decision after another.

Naturally, they tried to use "He's a ROCKSTAR!" and "He's ARTICULATE!" as a tar-and-feather for Obama -- as if intelligence and being articulate was a property of detached egg-head college professors.  (You do know Obama was a college professor?)

And Bush is a college graduate, principally because they didn't want to see him kicking around there any more.

Harvard, booze, and a C+ average make a good figure-head at some point.

He represents the corporate ruling class in America. He doesn't actually accurately reflect their views (they want a strong and powerful state), but it is in their interest to keep him well paid (check out who donates to his institutes) and so keep the notion of 'small government/socialists evil' alive because it so often suits their interests.
