This is the bane of the human condition. We come up with rules we should all live by, then we encounter contradictions or logical impasse and can't come to a decision or compromise and end up warring.

There is no answer to this problem and humans are totally doomed as a result.

That we are still surviving is a miracle.

This is also why religion is a dead end.  A complete, and total, yet remarkably DEAD dead end.

You can't live in a society with a god and expect to obey his/her rules "properly" and also compromise here on earth with people who don't believe in your god.

If your god is not all powerful, there is no point in worshiping him/her. So you MUST fight.

So Sharkfish why have you been so depressed lately?  Everything sucks!  I hate the world...and the universe too!

Myself, I find it is just naturally depressing to keep up with what is going on in the world.

I mean... really.

However, there is the possibility that the news only reports negative things and the uplifting and inspirational stories are being kept from us.

The two main motivators of humans is fear & greed.

Basically my greed allows me to use fear to profit.  That is true in mass media news.

Who would watch a news show on vets helping puppies for free compared to a show about radical religious militias looking to blow things up?  Advertisers want the most eyes.  So news producers push for the "exciting" yet negative news.

My guess is Sharkfish is just the type of sheeple the fat cats in the news room want.

I'm not sure about other religions, but for Catholics, there's really no expectation that they'll follow all the rules perfectly all the time.

It must suck being you, never wanting to have any lofty goal to strive for, because if you believe what you just said, why should you strive for something when you might fail?
