http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2009_07/019306.php there's many more sources. the american south is the overwhelming tipping point crazy upping the national stats. "In the Northeast, West, and Midwest, the overwhelming majorities realize the president is a native-born American. But notice the South -- only 47% got it right and 30% are unsure.
Outside the South, this madness is gaining very little traction, and remains a fringe conspiracy theory. Within the South, it's practically mainstream." Yeah, well, Slavery, Civil-War, States-Rights, lack of Voting Rights, Poll Tests, Separate But Equal, all Southern strategies.
Not surprising there's still people with wishful thinking in the South tilting at windmills. Sadly, unlike Don Quixote, their goals are not admirable. Northeast, West, and Midwest roughly 95% of Americans believe President Obama was born in Hawaii.
in the only other region of the country, ~45% of southerners believe President Obama was born in Hawaii. 55% are uncertain or do not believe he was born in Hawaii. this is quite frankly the state of racism in American today. It is the pulse of our current heartbeat. [rare use of Caps from argv] While the D's aren't anything to write home about, this is good news. It would be sweet to watch Karl Rove's permanent Democratic majority come into being.
Some Architect. Just about anything that drives racist Southern Whites crazy is A Good Thing. He was born in Kenya. His own family says that and we have the birth certificate.
Race has nothing to do with it. John McCain was also born not a citizen and is not eligible to be president either. I think their poll is broken.
Although, I do know at least one person that believes that same nonsense... or maybe they just really want to believe it. I think you can safely say that the birthers are concentrated in the south...
My point is that A) if you needed a poll to tell you that then you are about as dense as a birther, and B) just because the concentration of the idea is in the south does not mean the idea "mainstream" in the south. The suggestion that it is somehow the prevailing belief is retarded nonsense. 55% of southerners are uncertain or do not believe he was born in Hawaii.
maybe not prevailing thought, but certainly majority opinion if polls are to be trusted... ah nevermind, about that post above. have not had my coffee yet!
"He was born in Kenya. His own family says that and we have the birth certificate."
Where does his family say this? I have honestly tried to find something like this, but all I can find is the phone call to his grandmother and the phone call to the Kenyan ambassador. I noticed you stopped replying in the other thread when I pointed this out. Also, you realize that even Orly Taitz has admitted that the birth certificate was a fake, right? (Even if she insists it was planted to discredit her.) >He was born in Kenya. His own family says that and we have the
>birth certificate. What, this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama_citizenship_conspiracy_theories#Obama.27s_paternal_step-grandmother.27s_version_of_events Sounds like you're full of shit, cowboy. "55% of southerners are uncertain or do not believe he was born in Hawaii."
Yeah... right. That's complete bullshit. ----"He was born in Kenya. His own family says that and we have the birth certificate."------
The Kenyan birth certificate is an absolute forgery, and the evidence from the family is underwhelming to say the least. Obama's father and his mother were living in Hawaii, they got married in Hawaii, and some months later they had Obama in Hawaii. There is no reason why on earth they should all have bunked off to Kenya just to have the kid. |
