Okay, so we're not always right...

County propert validation

I received my property tax evaluation for next year from the county today. They think my house is worth $10K less this year, and bumped the taxes up $120 per year. I'm now at $1,900 for a home valued at $250K.

This isn't my home. I'm renting it from the government, now at $160 per month.

Oh boy. Don't even get me started on the property tax issue. I am ready to start killing people.

You should be so lucky that your property tax is so low. I've been paying over three times that, though it's dropped a little with the post-bubble collapse in valuations.

Like you I ask myself, how can I retire as a homeowner when I will have to pay so much rent to the government for having a roof over my head?

stop whinging girls.  its either pay property tax to the county, or build the damn roads and other services yourself.

one of those is going to be cheaper than the other!

Yeah, because it isn't like you pay sales tax or anything.

Who made the land your home is built on? You? Somebody you bought it from?

Our assessment was increased from 103K to 175K a few months before the subprime bubble burst and hasn't been revised since.  Our annual property tax on the house is 5K.

I'd better be careful what I wish for.  Two houses across the street just sold for a RIDICULOUS $290K each to Polish immigrants who apparently don't know any better.
