I don't get it. Khatami was the former president, who was a moderate, and was pretty pro-jewish, as far as iranian presidents go at least, right?

Now I could see not giving the current Iran president a visa, but Khatami, wtf is the issue here?

1) At this time, anyone remotely affiliated with the Iranian government isn't entirely neutral. And since Khatami has not publicly denounced Ahmadinejad (I presume, from the fact that he's alive and not in jail), he's still an envoy for Tehran, even if not officially.

2) As such, it is their job to oppose such things, even if they don't expect anyone to actually listen to them.
